Vaccinations
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.
Our practice nurses are available by appointment to offer medical advice regarding travel and vaccinations where appropriate.
Travel Risk Assessment
We offer a full travel and advice immunisation service. If you are travelling abroad please complete our Travel Risk Assessment Form in plenty of time (We recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey. You can also collect and complete a travel form and hand it in to our reception. You will be asked to contact the practice 72 hours after submission and we will let you know whether any vaccines are required for your trip. Once you have this information you should make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.
It is important to make complete your form and make this this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment may be required for booster vaccinations one month after your first vaccination.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
If you need malaria medication this is not available on the NHS, some medications are available to buy from the pharmacy, others require a private prescription. The nurse will advise you which malaria tablets are recommended depending on where you are travelling to.

Some countries require proof of vaccination (for example, for polio or yellow fever vaccination), which must be documented on an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) before you enter or when you leave a country.
